The Second Annual "Graduation Car Show" was held on Sunday June 11, 2000 in Jefferson, WI at the home of Mike Spangler and Cheryl Samuel. The show was co-sponsored by the Mad-City Ramblers chapter of AMCRC, The S.E. WI Chapter of AMO and the Jefferson Collectibles Car Club. The weather was started out muggy and ended up sunny. Thirty-Two cars were registered on the showfield. The cars ranged from A 1959 Custom to a 1983 Concord and everything else in-between. There were seven "Peoples Choice Award Classes", five classes for American Motors vehicles and two open classes. The Mad-City Ramblers provided the first place trophies; they were hand made by their president Glenn Bodnar. They were made from folding seat brackets for a Rambler and a model of a picnic basket. He called them "Bed & Breakfast Trophies" due to the high price of gasoline you have to sleep and eat in your car The event this year was held in honor of the graduation of Sergio Gaite-Paz from Bolivia, South America. He was one of four foreign exchange students from Jefferson High School. He resided this year with Cheryl Samuels family. Also graduating from 8th grade this year was Mollie Spangler. The event included a fund-raiser (50-50 raffle) for the Jefferson High School AFS program. AFS (American Field Service) is the organization, which places exchange students worldwide. This year they were raising money to send a local girl to Australia. She also ran the food concession for the show as a fund-raiser. Between the food concession and the raffle almost $400.00 was raised. The show also included a display of the 1971 AMX two-seater prototype. A special area of the registration tent featured many photo albums of past AMC/Rambler events and auto related books to read and browse through. Tours were given through our "AMC Barn" memorabilia display. Following the awards ceremony all participants were invited to Sergio and Mollies graduation party, which featured a pig roast, and a DJ playing oldies music.
